While we planned our wedding everyone told us, “invest in the photographer, scrimp wherever else but invest in the photographer!” When my now-wife announced that we had selected Julia Goldberg I realized she took that advice to heart. I felt brave one day and asked something like, “but do we need to spend this much on pictures? Will it be that valuable?” Well, anonymous matrimonial planner, let me tell you it absolutely is that valuable and the reason surprised me: my wedding day was a beautiful blur of activities I rarely got time to savor. I wanted the day to last a week but it felt like a flash. Julia captured so much incidental beauty in all these moments I couldn’t connect with. She made permanent perfect memories out of fleeting joys and I am not just satisfied with the pictures she sent us, I am thankful for the experiences she saved. The engagement shoot was an adventure, too, with Julia’s fantastic creativity. She communicates well, she is organized, she is very easy to work with, and for the potentially temperamental brides-to-be out there my lovely (and temperamental) wife would like to mention that Julia is a consummate professional with a Saint’s patience. Her Instagram is full of great shots with depth and softness and great framing… I don’t have the photography vernacular to really do her justice. And if you suppose she charges too much, mark my words: she doesn’t charge enough.

We hired Julia for our elopement in Sedona and wow! We could not be more grateful for it! First, she is extremely communicate and punctual. You never realize how important this is until you deal with vendors who aren't! Second, she has a true knack for lighting, posing, and capturing the scenery around you. She knows what angles best compliment you and her creative mind allows her to capture the most stunning photos- the ones you see in magazines! She's adventurous and has no fears, which means she's ready to go anywhere: the edge of that cliff, in that freezing cold water, over that chasm, into that cave- you name it, she's up for it! We had the absolute pleasure to work with Julia in August 2021 for an adventure elopement shoot in Iceland! The photos speak for themselves. My husband and I can be kind of awkward in front of a camera, but Julia was amazing and provided guidance on how to pose and make things look more natural. Julia was an absolute delight!! She was our elopement photographer out in Utah and oh what a day we had shooting together. She had not only picked the locations for us but also had checked them out before we even got there. Julia is a patient photographer. We had some hiccups and she just rolled with it. Julia is awesome! She did a wonderful job with our engagement photoshoot. This was our first time hiring a professional photographer, so we had a lot of questions. She was really patient in answering all of them and made sure we were really comfortable before and during the shoot. We also had a really short window to get the pictures, but she understood our situation and made magic with the time that we gave her. She provided suggestions for locations/poses, made sure we had fun and captured all the candid moments perfectly. We just loved how our pictures turned out! I had a lovely experience with Julia earlier this fall! I booked a friendship photoshoot for my close friend and myself for her birthday. Julia was fantastic - giving us great suggestions as to locations and best time to shoot, helping us pick outfits. She showed up right on time (I was running a few minutes late), and we proceeded to take amazing photos at Sutro Baths during the golden hour. I'm not great at taking photos, but she quickly put us both at ease and had us laughing, giggling, and having an overall great time. She edited and shared with us a few of the best photos within a few days, and then the full gallery a week or two later. Julia is professional, sweet, and talented - would definitely do a photoshoot with her again!

I can’t say enough great things about our experience with Julia! From the initial interview to the wedding day (or days in our case) she was very personable and professional throughout the whole process. On our expected wedding day there were so many hiccups including the weather dropping 30 degrees over night with 30mph winds and heavy rain. Plus, I unexpectedly got sick after the first location we shot together for our private vows and had to cancel the whole day. Julia really came to our rescue, I was extremely upset but she remained in constant communication with my husband while I was getting sick and she rearranged her schedule just for us to meet right outside of Portland hours before her flight was due to leave. The second locations road was in unexpectedly terrible condition but she found an even better trail close by. She really thinks on the fly and can make the best out of every situation. We may have not gotten our beach pictures (due to weather and sickness) but instead we got these amazing cliff side and forested pictures! She really captured the details most important to us and created memories for us that we’ll never forget. Thanks to her our wedding was saved and our pictures turned out beyond expectations! We will always be grateful for our experience with such a compassionate soul and hardworking individual! If you’re worried about posing or pictures looking candid then Julia does a great job directing and making everyone feel comfortable! I can’t count how many times she made us laugh and smile like fools in front of the camera! We plan on using her services for some anniversary shoots and family photos in the future. I can’t recommend her enough!
